FAQ's
- Is the belly cover included with the rug? Absolutely, our turnouts are a complete package, with a belly cover as well as alternative traditional surcingles included.
- Can your rugs be used without the belly cover? Yes, we also include 2 spare surcingles with our rugs for traditional fastening, useful during dry weather or to let the cover dry.
- Should the belly cover be used with surcingles? No, the belly cover and surcingles are designed to be used independently - one or the other.
- If I use the belly cover, how tight should I fasten it? The elasticated front and back of the cover should be in light contact with your horses tummy. Optimum fastening in this way avoids straining the fastenings when rolling/moving, but reduces mud/water from splashing inside. User discretion is advised, particularly given the variations in horse breeds and sizes. By fitting our products you assume all responsibility for doing so, MudRugs will not be held liable for associated accidents or injury.
- If I use the surcingles, how should I fasten them? The surcingles should be fastened diagonally, crossing under the tummy and leaving approx 4 inches (less for XS sizes, more for XL) between the surcingles and the belly. As they're not elastic, this fit enables extra room for movement, but should not be left loose enough to risk injury. User discretion is advised, particularly given the variations in horse breeds and sizes. By fitting our products you assume all responsibility for doing so, MudRugs will not be held liable for associated accidents or injury.
- Can I purchase an extra belly cover, in case I'd like a spare? Yes, we also sell replacement belly covers separately, enabling you to clean/dry one while using the other.
- Is it possible to use a larger/smaller belly cover than the one included with my rug? Yes it is. Simply note that our belly covers are grouped into 4 sizes; in order for the fastenings to perfectly align, they're included with their associated rug as follows: S (5ft-5'6), M (5'9-6'3), L (6'6-6'9), XL (7'0-7'3). A smaller/larger belly can still be used and ordered separately if your horse is particularly broad or slim. In addition, in case the matching colour is not in stock, alternative colours or even weights will still fit in the same way.
